Pheu Thai to prove Prayut not qualified for premier’s post during policy debate

Veteran politician Chalerm Yoobamrung, a Pheu Thai Party key figure

The Pheu Thai Party will focus on questioning Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha’s qualifications during the parliamentary debate on the new government’s policies next week, a key party figure said on Friday.

Veteran politician Chalerm Yoobamrung said Prayut’s qualifications will be pulled up for debate by Pheu Thai’s new leader Sompong Amornwiwat, adding that the general was not really qualified to become the country’s prime minister as the Constitution prohibits state officials from holding the post.

He pointed out that General Prayut was a state official when he exercised his sovereign powers as junta chief after overthrowing an elected government.

Chalerm also said he expected Prayut’s second administration to be short-lived, adding that he will personally continue questioning the PM’s qualifications publicly even though he is not an MP.

“I will publicly speak about every government-related issue that is wrong,” he said.

Chalerm is one of Pheu Thai’s key figures who did not get elected in the March 24 national vote, as the party did not win an MP seats in the party-list system of mixed-member proportional representation.

Kudos to this bloke, he hit the nail on the head, but does he realise he is in Thailand, a quick promotion to the judges and it's all over, e.g. we have looked at the legitimacy of the complaint, and all things being equal we believe he is the best man for the job, "hammer slammed down" case over, Judges exit quickly never to be seen again, except when they have taken their new posts smiling for the cameras.

Takes a creep to get rid of a creep.  Shinwatras's ascension to office was much cleaner than that of the junta's.   If you believe in military governments, why don't you just say it?

I don't believe in corrupt criminals and I would never vote for a corrupt criminal like Thaksin. And I also wouldn't vote for anybody who openly supports him. That leaves obviously not many alternatives.

A wonderful example is the USA. How many people would have voted for Trump if there would have been a good alternative?

So you are saying cha cha and the junta are the best alternatives for the Thai people?  The junta is not guilty of any crimes ?   cha cha is a knight in shining armor, riding a white horse ?

Thaksin is only relevant to the pointy heads in the military.  He has said little in the last six months, even with that contrived election.

There were lots of better alternatives to Trump.   He was just a better campaigner.  He will probably win again.  The average American will happily trade debt and the future for jobs now.

What is the definition of a state official? Is an MP not a state official?

If you think Thaksin isn't evil, plotting and planning, and still thinking it's his right to take all he wants from the country whilst everyone kisses his arse you haven't been here long or got tunnel vision.

You don't seriously think PTP is a democratic real political party do you? Or the UDD??

That's the issue. Two sides of the same coin.

Trump was helped because the DNC refused to select the candidate people wanted and put their favored on in place. We know how that worked out!
