Money in any society tilts the balance, you get to be able to buy top quality attorneys, not some overworked Public Defender. But in general, the justice system in the West tends to work overall. Ask Jeff Skilling, even after paying $15M for his attorney he still got banged up for 15 years. Thailand however, if you're a poor kid caught with a few yaba pills you're headed to the slammer for a few years. Rich and influential, you pay off the cops and the judiciary and you can literally get away with murder. Read TVF it's littered with examples. So this is nothing to do with the rights or wrongs of foreign judicial systems, it's all about the corrupt and unjust Thai system. Not saying what he did wasn't wrong, but it's is disproportionate compared to a young unlicensed rich girl who can kill 9 people in a car wreak and just because Mom & Dad can grease enough palms she gets off scot free I knew a bloke who got chucked in jail for a few weeks for something he hadn't done (Mistaken identity) He told me there were people in there for pinching a bar of soap. Just poor folk who couldn't afford any representation

How they apply it might well be BS Not sure where you come from, but I could give you numerous cases in the UK where people get ridiculously light sentences, whether they're rich or poor doesn't seem to make that much difference. Just ask British people about this kind of thing. There is also the child-rape/grooming thing in the north of England. Not pursuing people because of the implications/politics, just as much BS as anything that happens in Thailand.

He was on community service, should have notified/requested consent to travel, then it would have been ok consent given, didn’t report, that’s when he breached the order it may be he breached the order because he was in s thai jail. But im not sure of the timeline. I doubt he will be sentenced to any jail time in oz for breaching that order. After what he went thru in thsiland for stealing a gown it is likely he will just be given another 6 months or so to complete the order.

They're just not as stupid & liberal as they are in the West!
