webfact
Industry minister offers Thai haven for China’s trade war victims By The Nation Suriya Industry Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit on Monday issued what he called urgent policy on four aspects of his ministerial duties. Suriya said he would encourage Chinese companies affected by the US-China trade war to invest more in Thailand, and conduct a roadshow soon in China and Japan as part of that effort. The Board of Investment, meanwhile, would be asked to readjust its investment conditions on a case-by-case basis to make them more attractive to individual investors. All megaprojects including the planned extension of Suvarnabhumi Airport would be encouraged to use domestic raw materials for construction where possible. Under the fourth aspect of policy, those launching SME businesses would be funded by low-interest loans guaranteed by the ministry. Obviously no one has informed him that there are very few trade war victims left in China. They have already set up business in Vietnam and other neighbouring countries. Thailand has been asleep while all this has been going on and only now have just woken up and realised what they have missed out. Bit late for roadshows now other than to enjoy the seafood buffets and 5 star hotels and perhaps give Prawit's VIP jet a run around the block. neeray
If Trump saw such an "end run" being successful, he would merely impose tariffs on imports from Thailand. Anyway, by the time the Chinese could set up to manufacture in Thailand, Trump may be out of office, or the trade war may have already been settled (as Trump is bound to give in .... and brand it a "win"). The Chinese are patient. They will just wait it out.

And that is already going on for quite some time. Did you also see they Chinese "belt & road" ideas are getting frantic? Did you also see the Chinese government is pushing internal consumption due to the loss of export? You think the Chinese government is patiënt? Really They are getting a little nervous because they see the tide is turning and cannot stop it. Hence the frantic search for bases everywhere, the speed of building railways, the stupid building of Islands, the troubles in HK, the troubling replacing of Han Chinese to Tibet and the muslim parts. It certainly isn't going well with China.

When China own a huge slice of your economy the power shifts from the government to China !

The Chinese threat is one of the only things both major US political parties agree on. All Americans want the economy to do well and it's convenient to have such a prominent foreign aggressor in China. Almost nobody likes the Chinese anywhere in the world for their industrial scale deceit. The World v. China will be ongoing for decades.
Cake Monster
Does this guy really think that the US is not already watching for this kind of activity in support of the Chinese. Offer to dodge the sanctions against China at your peril Thailand, as you will face your own sanctions by the US for your stupidity.

It is their destiny and they embrace it.
