BANGKOK (NNT) - Suan Dusit Poll has conducted a survey on the expectations of the public of each ministry in the new cabinet. If all ministers are fully committed to working for the public, they will bring prosperity to the country and improve people’s well-being they say.

From the Ministry of Finance, people expect honesty, economic stimulus measures to boost the economy, inflation controls and containment of the cost of living. From the Ministry of Commerce, people expect a rapid and firm control of prices of consumer items.

From the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, people expect price rises for rubber, rice and palm oil, and a better quality of life for farmers and farmers’ self-reliance. From the Ministry of Transport, people expect development and connectivity of the transport system across the country, better traffic management and public transport fare reductions.

From the Ministry of Energy, people expect lower fuel and electricity costs and the promotion of clean and alternative forms of energy. From the Ministry of Labor, people expect fairness, an increased minimum wage and improvement in the quality of life of low-income earners as well as solutions to unemployment and illegal migrant worker problems.

From the Ministry of Education, people expect equal educational opportunities and educational developments to keep up with the standard of foreign countries. From the Ministry of Justice, people expect fair and transparent judicial procedures without double standards.

From the Defense Ministry, people expect assistance, national development, peace and unity maintenance and the promotion of reconciliation. From the Ministry of the Interior, people expect security of life and property, a solution to crime problems, peace maintenance and crackdowns on illegal trade especially in narcotics. From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, people expect the ministry to boost international confidence in Thailand and strengthen relations with other countries.

Most comments focus on working honestly at full capacity which will result in the country’s prosperity and people’s well-being.

Space filler my friend, space filler, indeed, to expect that this government will do better than the previous ones is a folly, but hey, what do we care? we're the lowly farangs whom are allowed to stay in this country by the grace and the kindness of the Thai people...
