Recently, my wife gave the youngest son (now in high school) some Thai cooking lessons. They are addicted to her cooking. We get invited to an occasional get-together, just don't forget to bring some food, 555. Many years earlier, we lived on an estate in New Jersey and traded chores for a small apartment. Mow lawn, wash windows, take care of dogs when they went fishing in Iceland, clean pool. That family, too, was pretty laid-back. Old money seems to be that way. Mauritius is not that safe outside of resorts and escorted tours. I was married to a beautiful nut job from that island and there is a worrying amount of physcotic inbreds running around with big scary knives. Granted it has beautiful scenery and stunning beaches, but something similar must have enticed you to Thailand before you became who you are now. Emirates have a couple of flights a day to Port Louis, BA have daily flights as do Air France, so it's not that difficult to get to these days. Looked like a holiday from Bangkok with the family. My point was with shopping and sailing and polo among other things many rich people come to Pattaya and many Thai royalty live there full time.
