Popular Post BestB
All of the quoted figures are incorrect . There are exactly 0 zero expats living in Thailand but there are plenty of aliens. on every single official and non official form i am referred to as an alien , so why on earth are they counting expats ????? 5 1

I live in Korat, and do my retirement extention begin september. The extention has a number. The average number for the last 4 years is 4500. So that means in a year the korat immigration issues about 6750 retitement extentions a year. The most expats live in Bangkok, Pattaya, changmai, pucket and udon thani. If people from those regions make the same estimations for their province, we can see if we come close to the 72000. there are 70 provinces, so total over 500k

Do the math, if each one, spends 100 dollars a week, thats a sizable hunk for the economy. So, why kill this golden goose? that is 400 dollar a month, that means they are only feeding on subsidized fish and rice and live in a shack without electricity, that is not a golden goose by any standard 4 2

Popular Post British Bulldog
Yes, there doesn't appear to be a clear definition for 'Foriegn Investors', as many have stated above, I have an Aussie mate who must have been in Thailand for about 28 years now, running a small Investment company, all legit, still pops back to Aus now and then .... he has noticed a huge downturn in his professional field due to the waning economy and lack of investors ... pity about the strict investment Laws there, must JV with a Thai, then 'X' amount of Board member members, then 'X' amount of employee's under each board member and so on ... there are ways around it, but he's happy and keeps to himself and his Thai family. I on the other hand live in Vientiane, same profession as my mate, completely different scene here, more profit, no JV, employ who you like, more work too ....

That there are millions of foreigners in Thailand. It is a large community. Granted, it is divided into subsets. But, we are talking about a nation that would break down without it's foreign population. Popular Post Teddy3943
Interesting would be the calculation of the total of foreign money being added to the Thai economy, because most of the expats have their income from their country of origin and spend it completely in Thailand. 4

And that from a country of 17 million.....
