When Prayut receive the petition, he will immediately take action, by arresting everyone who signed it to protect the image of Thailand.

It won't come within a mile of Prayut. It will stop at Big Oud, who will proceed to make life very difficult for a lot of people with minimum effort and using existing laws and rules. He'll see it as a challenge to his authority and as we all understand, that's not wise with a Thai.

Nothing is perfect. People will disagree, would have used other words, including other reforms.

The website crashed twice today because there was too much traffic. The petition text in English has been revised to be more readable.

I am part of this group and we need 10,000 signatures to change things, Below that, they will not listen to us. I have lived in Thailand for 15 years, I work for a law firm. There is nothing illegal to tell how you feel about a law. Some people in our group have Thai families, work hard, pay taxes. We tried to add testimonials with pictures but people are quite scared.

I would like to appeal the Thaivisa community to SIGN THIS PETITION as if nothing is done, nothing will change. Some applications online do not work, it is currently a mess and not necessary. We are screen by immigration, give our address every 90 days, checked at airports and country entrances, etc. How many foreigners live in Thailand? How many spend a weekend in another province? Do you imagine the lost of time to manage this?

This is not to protect terrorism. My personal opinion, it is useless and bureaucracy. In the old law of 1979 and need a change.

If you do not like it, do not sign, and I won't answer comments here. I take care of 4 children and manage a law firm. I have permanent residency and don't even have to do TM30, TM28 or TM47. I did that to help this community after receiving TONS of complaints. Thanks.

Sebastian.

The wordsmithing of that letter is terrible and that is being generous.  I'm not sure I would want to sign something like that although I certainly agree with the sentiment.  Not that it much matters as I am booked to leave Thailand in mid September after some 14 years here.

Of course, you are sure about that. But some people do know generals in Thailand and some high rank people. Contesting in Court was not the best option. I know some high people and we will see. Celebrities refused to be part of that project. We tried.

Imho the only people who were not allowed to stay temporary under section 34 when they arrived, but then later allowed to stay temporary and thus falling under section 37 are stateless people and people who were granted asylum in Thailand, after they illegally crossed a Thai border. I thought it's unlikely to have a member with such a status here on Thaivisa, so i said "probably everybody here". You know any other case?

what i think about thai emigration, thai laws, this government and military is written clearly on my face and way I behave in presence of any thai government official. I try to make it hard for them.

this petition hasn't got anything to do with anybodies birthday.

don't care about humiliating extensions, just do border runs every 3 months for shopping and come back with a few hundred baht savings. Save time and nerves.

And no need to improve their circus. They exactly know what they are doing, they are doing it on purpose. Instead falling into their trap try to outsmart them. You are a lawyer so you should know well how to do it

Surely if the letter has been amended, you have to collect the signatures of those who signed prior to the amendments again, or show their individual initials against each amendment?

As an online petition, timings are traceable for signatures, as are IP addresses.

Or does it work differently in Thailand?

We would delete anyone who writes to us if they want. There is an encryption system and numbers are real. I do know website a little, but I work with some programmers for that one.

We modified the text to make it better, not to change the main content.

Sorry for inconveniences if any.

It doesn't matter. If amended after signature, even by one word, or a punctuation mark, it's start again or show individual signatory approval. Otherwise a line can be drawn across the petition back as far as the last amendment time and date and names above that line can be disregarded.

I'm trying to assist here but I have no stake in this. I'm just a happy tourist.

Thank you to the people behind this, it's very refreshing to see. My landlady was complaining about it the other week so perhaps she and a few other Thais in similar positions would like to be made aware of this too.

Thanks for sticking up for all of us expats. ????

Thanks for that. And share on facebook, everywhere, ask your friends to sign. We won't go ANYWHERE without 10,000 signatures (I think).

We can't please everyone, we are a group, but we are trying our best. Thaivisa is full of Trolls that just want to complain for anything. I let them complain...they know everything. Most spend their miserable life trolling on internet 24/24. I have better things to do.

No it can't. The Thai government bowing to pressure from foreigners? It would cause loss of face and set a dangerous precedent. If anything, it will make them enforce the law more strictly.

It is with great regret , i have to agree with you.

I wish them luck, but after reading the petition, I doubt it. The petition is clearly focused on the pain and suffering of the foreigner.  I don't think immigration has any interest in our suffering at all.

I would suggest they focus on the negative impact it is placing on Thailand's economy and the global image of Thailand. Share some factual negative examples and how word is spreading on the internet. This, my friend, will attract the media, newspapers, and the attention they are hoping for.

Examples: Thai condo owners not willing to rent to foreigners. Foreign employment talent not coming to Thailand.  Empty condos lead to lower property values (i.e., impact to real estate). Etc.

hello,

just found this, do you think that it will be successful ? Reform Thai immigration laws , do you think that it's possible ?

But a big question is to know why Thaivisa is not helping us ? The biggest community should be the one with balls !

http://www.richardbarrow.com/2019/07/sign-the-petition-to-reform-thai-immigration-and-article-37/

http://reform-thai-immigration.com/

anyway, it's good to try and at least the guy working for TAT and the Esaan lawyers did something useful for the first time of their lives !

Cheers !

Thanks man for this, irrelevant of the outcome, you did a good job.

I have nothing to add, except you are the guy we need but prolly most of us don't deserve.

Please note many people appreciate your effort, it's only the negative minority here that doesn't.

Emergency treatment.

Suppose one needs treatment in another province, should the ambulance drive to immigration to report?

Mother in Law visit (Lao)

Nephews and nieces

What a mess.

Most hospitals probably have an employee who does the TM30 for foreign patients if they stay at the hospital. And even if they don't do it, they are the ones breaking the law, that's not the problem of the foreigner.

Yes, and I am sure you know the Thai Supreme Court decisions about defamation. Like for Taksin, and his defense, article XIV and others. We can disagree without calling each other's moron.

LLB from Canada? Not even a real lawyer. It's not a disagreement. You don't know the most basic facts.
