A child sleeping in the back of a pick-up had a lucky escape when a metal rod came loose from a container truck and entered the passenger compartment.

The rod pierced the windshield and the front seat narrowing avoiding a child lying on the back seat.

The story was featured on Facebook and reported on by Phai Siam news in Nan, northern Thailand.

The media said this should serve as a warning to keep your distance from large trucks.

Thaivisa notes that no one mentioned what might have happened if the child had been seated upright in a seat belt.
