tgeezer
I know only this one joke in Thai. A. Are you a native of Atall province? B. No A. Oh that explains it, you do not look like a person At all. It doesn’t make sense in English of course, my problem was how to say ‘Oh that explains it/ that is the reason’ etc. I was told that โอ มิหน้าล่ะ does the job. So ก. มิหน้าล่ะ ไม่ได้เจอเรจจีเลย I wondered how มิหน้า worked and whether there was a literal way of interpreting it eg. ‘not on the face of it’ but I can’t make it fit, can anyone? How would you translate โอ มิหน้าล่ะ

Also there are a few English equivalent expressions, ‘no wonder’ is one.
