Schumer wants the money to go to FBI domestic terrorism investigations, Department of Homeland Security initiatives to counter violent extremism, and federal health agency research on gun violence, the source said.

Schumer better have a chat with AOC before dumping too much money on DHS.  If she become president, DHS is going bye bye.  At least that's what she says.

It has always cost lives, from the very beginning.

More Americans have died from gunshots in the last 50 years than in all of the wars in American history.

Really? I grew up right near Newtown Connecticut and it’s about as  white ( and quite wealthy) as it gets and the kids were all about 6 years old that got killed ( over 20 of them ) it was under Obama’s presidency if that matters to you as well.  Any other points you care to share?

They have no hope until they remove Moscow Mitch.

I heard on one of the news programs that some are now calling him "Massacre Mitch" since he won't even bring the bill passed by the House up for discussion! He doesn't like "Moscow Mitch", I wonder if his new nickname will cause him to do something. I think that it has a chance of passing in the Senate and then it would be on Trump's shoulders to veto it which would be a political disaster for him right now.

She wants to get rid of all these agencies and departments?

The 22 agencies under the Department of Homeland Security are split into six overarching divisions that have their own directors. All divisions report to the Director of Homeland Security. About 183,000 employees fall under DHS.

"Police cars stop anyone they think might be considering a crime.  That will get a million guns off the street in a year."

So you want to let the police stop anyone who they think might be considering a crime?  That might get millions of illegal guns a year off the street, but only if the US required people carrying guns to be licensed and the guns registered.  Then let the police stop anyone they think might be carrying illegally and check licenses and registration.

Sounds good doesn't it?

I believe it was the New York Police Department that was doing just that, stopping "anyone they think might be carrying illegally and check licenses and registration".  If I remember correctly it was considered to be a violation of the Fourth Amendment against illegal search and seizure and stopped.

Apparently it did work, gun crime went down during that time and went back up after stop and search was discontinued.

You don't understand: An assault rifle is a poor man's penis.

When a rich man feels insecure about things below the belt, he can buy a ridiculous super car as a penis substitute.  An insecure poor man can't afford that, but he can buy a ridiculous assault rifle, something louder and even more useless than a super car.

Rich people pay other people to carry guns, sometimes actual, select fire, fully automatic, firearms for them.

e.g. Ted Kennedy had armed, private guards carrying machine guns, illegally, in the U.S. Capital.

I don't think anyone went to jail or prison for the illegal possession of the firearms.  Some people are more equal than others.

Democrats said that more than 250 mass shootings have occurred in the United States this year.

Does this include the mass shootings of Black people by Black people such as the slaughters that take place in Chicago on weekly basis?
