Blacklisted Chinese who changed his name nabbed when he went to extend his visa

Naew Na reported that a Chinese national was arrested on Tuesday after he went to extend his visa but was found to be blacklisted. 

 

Pol Col Thatchapong Sarawanangkoon praised the eagle eyed officials who carried out crosschecks on Mr Xie Mofeng.

 

He was found to be a blacklisted individual who had changed his name and got a new passport before slipping back into Thailand. 

 

Naew Na - a mouthpiece for immigration in recent months - said that the arrest was under the command of Region 1 chief of immigration Pol Maj-Gen Padiphat Suban Na Ayuthaya acting on orders from immigration chief Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang to keep Thailand safe. 

 

Thailand's much vaunted "biometrics" system was not mentioned on this occasion, notes Thaivisa.
