SATTAHIP:--A motorcyclist was severely injured when he drove into a tree in Sattahip.

Thanachai Topao, 36, survived hitting his head on the tree in a traffic island on Sukhumvit Road at Che junction, kilometer marker 169 Aug. 4 because he was wearing a helmet and because witnesses provided CPR after he stopped breathing.

Bleeding from the nose and mouth, Thanachai was transported to Queen Sirikit Naval Medical Center.

Witnesses said they saw Thanachai drive straight into the tree, but didn’t know why.

I hope that he'll survive without any problems.

He wasn't driving in the woods....how did he manage to hit that single tree? Amazing.

Reminded me of this photograph.

At one time was classified as the loneliest tree in the world. In the Sahara ( Niger ) At one time was on the map as a navigation marker being 250 miles from any other tree.

It was hit by a, reportedly, drunk driver and died. The trunk is now preserved in the national museum.

The position of 'loneliest tree' is now held by one on some New Zealand island.

This is the 'title holder' now.

Campbell Island.

275 kilometres from the next nearest tree.

A dozen quips and smartarse comments and nobody, NOBODY as asked how the tree is doing?

all we can say with some degree of confidence, is that the tree is probably a lot more intelligent than the rider who hit it.

After the rider recovers he will be stood in the corner and watered daily until he is back to 100% health.

That is right at the lights where he would be turning towards Pattaya. The stop light are right in front of where he hit the tree?

It remains a miracle ???? The traffic lights are just about what, 10 meters further ahead?

Maybe he was speeding up to catch a 'green light' and tried to overtake cars on the left side, bumping into the tree instead?

The crazy thing is, at this crossing/traffic light, you either turn right or left, 10 meters after where that tree is.

There is no 'straight on', unless you want to drive right into a Navy campus.

I've passed this crossing 10thousand times, no idea how you can end up against that tree? lol

Unless you are super drunk or text messaging while driving ....

He wanted to see if his helmet worked but was barking up the wrong tree.
