I used to just use a travel agent. They would pick up my docs, pics and passport and return it a few days later with the visa from the Embassy. Forget the cost something like 1200-1300B

Can it still be done these days? I heard those options are gone nowadays

I would suggest that those intending to get a Lao e-visa start at the official website: https://laoevisa.gov.la/index. I have had bad experiences with agent websites in the past which are usually more

E Visa costs $47 from the official website.   Could we stop posting information from that middleman website and/or remove it entirely

Don’t think so.

Officially, agents are a no-no these days. If possible at all, I suspect it would be expensive.

I just used a regular travel agent that I used to book flights for me. They had a messenger pick up my stuff and submit it to the embassy and then pick up and delivery to me when done, used to take 3-4 days.

More hassle though, as you now need to keep the letter with the passport.

No really a problem as I keep the letter copy with my reservations of flight and hotel in my luggage.

Nobody asked to see them  in hotels and not even when I left the countries.

This include Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar.

I  can make another paper copy if necessary as they are all in my emails.

I guess that when you enter the country and they scan the barcode, you are in the Immigration system. They are quite progressive compared to Thailand in using the available technology.
