rooster59
Interior Minister outlines fundamental economy policy tewit kemtong NONTHABURI,17th August 2019 (NNT) - Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paojinda, has delivered a speech on the fundamental economy and called on the people to have confidence in themselves, embrace change, stand tall and apply the Sufficiency Economy. In a workshop on the direction and coordination of economic plans at district and tambon levels, attended by provincial and district development officials nationwide, Gen Anupong gave a speech entitled the Ministry of the Interior and the Fundamental Economy, confirming that the top-tier economy has improved somewhat but the fundamental economy has not improved very much. That is a challenge to the Ministry of the Interior which is close to the people, listens to their problems and calls on them to stand up, be strong and prosper. He admitted that it might be difficult but if everyone joined hands in the effort, it would definitely be achieved. Provincial governors were advised to use personnel in an integrated fashion and put the potential of each agency to work. Agricultural control systems will be made compatible with economic plans, as the national economy largely depends on the agricultural sector to which almost 30% of the population belongs. With that in mind, the Sufficiency Economy is highly recommended to achieve the best outcomes in all fields. -- © Copyright NNT 2019-08-18 Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking Thailand news and visa info

The words are nauseating and meaningless........joining hands, embracing change, standing tall, confidence in oneself. And of course that hoary old chestnut the Sufficiency Economy. A philosophy which espouses moderation, reasonableness, prudence and virtue. Here is an example of Cabinet's idea of reasonableness, moderation and virtue. The Phalang Pracharat Party's 600 million baht virtuous gala 200 table fundraiser. This pigfest was attended by many government ministers and the price per table was a very moderate 3 million baht. What sickening hypocrisy!

Quote confirming that the top-tier economy has improved somewhat but the fundamental economy has not improved very much Otherwise translated, as the extreme increase in the unequal distribution of wealth. Quote That is a challenge to the Ministry of the Interior which is close to the people, listens to their problems and calls on them to stand up, be strong and prosper. Translated as , we get the jitters when we look at the news and see the occasional repercussions of such a scenario worldwide. Last paragraph says you are on your own and best to get used to eating recycled sticky rice cakes.

Fex Bluse
Seems we are getting a higher percentage of state-sponsored media. Be nice if there was a higher percentage of non-state media. ????

No, because, as usual, they uttered a bunch of words that really made little sense (even in Thai). All style and no substance.

(my italics) Well, except for the last military coup that couldn't trust the Thai people with sovereignty of the nation and resolve political problems, nor for the next five years to trust the Thai People to govern themselves, make laws and create a new Constitution after the military abolished the previous one. Seems the only time the Thai military wants people to stand tall is when it comes to being a target for .... disobedience.

londonthai
So a military officer, responsible for ratchaprasong massacre in 2010, now becomes a champion of farmers. The ministry of finance cant help poor, instead the minister of interior will keep peace and order. There wont be rice and other crops this year, because of poor rainy season. Many farmers will bankrupt and food prices will be skyroketing. Interior ministry is ready to face challenges by mass protests and asks for help from the other government agencies

jerojero
Yes. Standing tall will feed the family. And subscribe to a 70 year old economic theory, which isn't a real economic theory.
Destiny1990
Charging unaware foreigner tourists 900 Euros fine for smoking an E cigarette in a street under the treat of 2 years jail seem an interesting business model to me. But as always there is a flip side to that coin.
