HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam said on Tuesday she hoped a peaceful weekend anti-government protest was the start of an effort to restore peace and that the government would talk to peaceful protesters and tackle complaints against police.

Ital Thai chief Premchai sentenced to six months in jail over poaching rifle

Italian Thai Development president Premchai Kannasutra has been sentenced to a non-suspended six-month imprisonment for carrying hunting rifles in an infamous case in which a black panther was poached in a national park in February of last year.

Starved Great Danes rescued

Volunteer veterinarians from Watchdog Thailand and Pathum Thani Livestock Development Office’s Animal Welfare Division officials have rescued 13 Great Danes, which had been left uncared for at a house in Pathum Thani’s Lat Lum Kaew district. The dogs were suffering from severe malnutrition and in terrible condition.
