BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's National Rice Policy Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, on Wednesday announced 21 billion baht ($682 million) in subsidies to help stabilize prices for rice farmers hurt by drought and a strong baht.

First luxury outlet ‘Central Village’ to open on 31 August 2019

CPD chief proposes 3-point plan as alternative to price-guarantee scheme

The Cooperative Promotion Department (CPD) has come up with a three-point plan to fix the problem of farmers’ debts instead of having them rely on the government’s price-guarantee policy, which is now useless considering that most crops have been destroyed by the drought.
