A 36 year old Thai woman went to Chacherngsao police after discovering that 900,000 baht had been taken out of a bank account.

The woman is an heiress and daughter of a famous Thai astronomer.

She told police that after she deposited 1.5 million in the account in June it had not been touched.

Yet when she went to the bank to withdraw money yesterday an update showed five withdrawals.

She explained that the account was not linked to either an ATM or internet banking. She clearly suspects an inside job.

She was met with only excuses at the bank who asked for two weeks to investigate.

She said that people should not assume that money kept in a bank is safe and they should regularly update their accounts.

The bank - whose branch is at a shopping center in Chacherngsao - was not named but was obvious from a video on 77kaoded.

No need for bank robbers in Thailand, its all done in house.

regards Worgeordie

P.S. those with 800,000 Thb + in the bank ,check it regularly to make sure its still there.

Even if you do notice it, it's too late and you won't get a new visa, have fun trying to get your money back when you are no longer allowed in the country -.-

I know we laugh but something could happen to any bank customer...

the bank’s lack of accountability rears it ugly head...you don’t need 2 weeks in an issue the bank can figure out in an hour or two....

would the bank be liable in civil court here for the money? Why isn’t this a court case vs a police matter? What the hell does the police know about money? ????
