geovalin Posted August 22, 2019 Share Posted August 22, 2019 The Cambodian embassy in Thailand is working to release 85 migrant workers who were arrested in May after allegedly crossing the border illegally. Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Ket Sophann yesterday said 61 of the migrants were transferred from a prison in Bangkok to Sa Kaeo province due to overcrowding. “Our representatives have visited them and they are in good health and have enough to eat, but they have been held in detention for too long,” he said. “Thailand has explained to us that they wanted to detain them because they are witnesses to inculpate seven Thai nationals allegedly involved in human trafficking.” Soum Chankea, rights group Adhoc’s coordinator in Banteay Meanchey province, said he supported the government’s decision to intervene. read more https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50635943/kingdom-seeks-release-of-85-migrants/ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
