A British man who is wanted in the UK on a charge of attempted murder has been arrested in Pattaya.

On Thursday, Immigration chief Pol Lt Gen Sompong Chingduang announced the arrest of the 43 year old mixed martial arts fighter.

The arrest came after the British authorities contacted their Thai counterparts.

The man is now set to be extradited to face an attempted murder charge after being accused of shooting a 17 year old in Basingstoke on 10 February 2018. The teenager was left paralysed from the waist down following the incident.

Pol Lt Gen Sompong said after discovering the wanted man was an MMA fighter, officers began searching the city’s gyms in a bid to try and track him down.

He was eventually arrested at a sauna in Jomtien.

A search of the man’s condo discovered he had overstayed his visa by more than 3 months.

He originally entered Thailand in April at the Ban Pakard border checkpoint.

Pol Lt Gen Sompong said the suspect did not resist arrest.

The suspect is now being held at Pattaya police station and is expected to be extradited to the UK.
