PHUKET: The island’s core contingent of lifeguards this week vowed to carry on the work of “founding father” Prathaiyuth Chuayaun in the hope of realising his dream of swimming and surf survival skills becoming a standard element of young children’s education.

Rescue workers trap three monitor lizards in houses and gardens in Kathu

PHUKET: Rescue workers were called to a residential area by Loch Palm Golf Club in Kathu on Thursday (Aug 22) to trap and remove three Indian monitor lizards.

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hong Kong police fired volleys of tear gas to break up anti-government protests in a gritty industrial suburb on Saturday after activists threw petrol bombs and bricks, as China freed a British consulate worker whose detention had fuelled tensions.

WASHINGTON/BEIJING (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday lashed back at a new round of Chinese tariffs by heaping an additional 5% duty on some $550 billion in targeted Chinese goods in the latest tit-for-tat trade war escalation by the world's two largest economies.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (Reuters) - Ewan McGregor will reprise his "Star Wars" role as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in a series for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service, the actor announced to fans of the beloved movie franchise on Friday.
