Immigration in Petchabun in Thailand's north east were informed of suspicious behavior of a foreigner at a house in Moo 1, Huay Yai sub-district of Muang district.

A detail under the command of Region 5 immigration chief Ponganan Khlaikleung was sent to investigate if TM 30 regulations (not reporting the whereabouts of foreigners) were being flouted.

They found a 28 year old Omani man who had come into Thailand on June 29th for purposes of tourism and had been allowed to stay until July 28th. He was on a 26 day overstay when picked up yesterday afternoon.

Naew Na reported that the tourist had gone to Phuket and fallen in love with a Thai man. He had then gone to live with him at his house knowing full well that he was overstaying his visa.

He was handed over to Ban Khok police ahead of being deported and blacklisted.

The man he was staying with - named only as "A" - was taken in and fined 2,000 baht for not reporting that his lover was staying with him. This is in accordance with the 1979 TM 30 laws.

Lt-Col Nawiphat Thetyaem of Petchabun immigration said that all foreigners must abide by immigration rules to the letter of the law. If they don't they can expect deportation and blacklisting for a time specified under the regulations.

Homeowners must also report foreigners under their roofs or face being fined.
