Sanook reported that Israeli media had said that a two year old Israeli boy was attacked by a leopard at a safari park on Koh Samui after a relative opened an enclosure.

Israel National News reported that the boy's relative opened a door and on seeing the leopard was scared and did not close it. The leopard got out and went for the child's face.

It was all over in ten seconds before the leopard was returned to the cage. It happened last Thursday morning.

Park adviser Naphat Pleumsut said that the leopard was called Tony and was six years old. It was usually tame.

The boy's granddad had opened the cage. The boy suffered a fractured cheekbone and the safari park took care of everything including accommodation, hospital fees and insurance matters.

Medical staff came from Israel to pick up the boy and continue treatment in Israel. He was doing fine now.

New measures are now in place so that a repeat event does not happen, said Sanook.
