geovalin
Preah Sihanouk Governor Kuoch Chamroeun on Monday authorised the demolition of a dozen more recently-constructed buildings in Sihanoukville after they were deemed unsafe by a committee. Earlier this month, Mr Chamroeun approved the demolition of two Chinese-owned buildings in Buon and Pi communes after the committee ruled the buildings were unsafe for having weak foundations, failing to meet technical standards and for developing cracks. Ever since the collapse of a seven-storey building in Sihanoukville that killed 28 and injured 26 others, the Committee for the Inspection of the Quality of Buildings in Preah Sihanouk province has been conducting inspections across the city. The committee is tasked with reviewing technical aspects, standards and safety of buildings under construction. It has the authority to draft and file a report to the Land Management Ministry. Kheang Phearom, spokesman for Provincial Hall, yesterday said the plan to demolish the 12 buildings was revealed during a meeting between Mr Chamroeun and Lao Tip Seiha, secretary of state at the Land Management Ministry and head of the inspection committee. The meeting was also attended by contractors and construction equipment suppliers, along with concrete companies. read more https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50637750/twelve-more-buildings-to-be-demolished-in-sihanoukville/

spidermike007
I suspect they will see alot more substandard Chinese construction in the future. That entire area has been bought up by Chinese and from what I hear nearly all ex-pats have left the area. 40% of all foreign investment in Cambodia is Chinese. Welcome to Camchina. Or Chinbodia. geisha
I have fiends who had a successful business, restaurant, bar, beach, a few hotel rooms. They’d been there years., People used to come from Kep and Kampot for the great French cuisine.Went there for years. Such a shame. All expats gone, overrun with ugly red casinos and Chinese restaurants, roads all dug up, a mud bath. No Europeans go there now. It’s finished.Hoping the invasion hasn’t started in Kampot, i have friends too.

Doubt that. China has refused Thailand request for technical specifications for Thailand's first Chinese sub. - paid for in advance. China likely refused Cambodia review as well. So not surprising their buildings in China regularly collapse. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/10/multiple-building-collapses-china-kill-8-161010080834450.html
