webfact
Vendor in Phitsanulok keeps her prices down By THE NATION Khao Larm vendor Pathomporn Wimuitti A sticky rice vendor in Phitsanulok is fighting back against the soaring cost of glutinous rice seeds, by refusing to raise the price of her khao larm (glutinous rice roasted in bamboo tubes). The white rice seeds are usually priced at Bt25 per kilo and are now sold at Bt45 while the black seeds are now sold at Bt70 from the normal price of Bt50. Pathomporn Wimuitti said that the prices would continue to rise as supplies decrease. The woman said she would rather enjoy less profit and not raise her prices. The 36-year-old claimed that she sold 300 tubes in a few hours, and sold a daily total of 500 that were made by her and her old mother. She said that buyers who secure a bulk purchase of up to 100 tubes would get free delivery, adding that all orders must be placed before 9am, because she and her mother can only make 500 a day.
