The storm passed close to Udon, where I am West of the city we didn't get much volume of rain, less than a couple of inches, lot of "heavy drizzle"
Isaanbiker
We got hit in Sisaket a couple of years ago, but it wasn't heavy rain, two dams bursted and the water came from two sides. Luckily no flood this year, I can only hope it stays like that. Being through that isn't nice at all. The whole area was flooded and only reachable per boat. It was great that the Thai army had helped us a lot with boats to get our stuff out. Of course not all.... These photos are a few years old, nothing to do with 2019!!! from the home of CC
Nothing even close to this in Hua Hin. Life is tough enough for Thai people without having it all washed away. Thank you for the pics and reinforcing the gratefulness for my simple (and dry) life with my Thai wife. If you see a reputable site for donation of goods please post. Sparkles
So sad and as you can imagine how many would have flood insurance. This country needs massive investment in infrastructure to stop the cycle of drought ,flood, drought, flood etc. Seems fast trains ,submarines and new tanks have priority

Lam Pao dam is in Kalasin but is affecting Roi Et. The ones that concern me are well to the East and I hope that my people are too busy helping others rather than affected themselves. poohy
Sad to see but these same people were complaining of serous drought 3 weeks ago The country needs the rain but collection systems must be organised much better than they are now
Dumbastheycome
So sad to see such destruction and disruption. Luckily we are a little south of the main event and although a lot of welcome rain nothing on the scale of disaster.

But yes, infrastructure to cope with drought needs some major consideration. I found it disappointing that while resevoirs were bone dry I did not see a single attempt to take advantage of that to increase the capacity in the event of eventual rain . And if undertaken on a massive scale can reduce downstream effects. Yet to hear about the possible squealing from Bangkok if the south bound run off from this reaches there (again). I think Bangkok will flood, tomorrow and Monday. Not to much. Ranong and Phangnga today lucky a bit. Stop rainfall the afternoon so can drain. Now it rain heavy again. Maybe will be ok. Bangkok has not even had any significant rain from this system. It is the Northeast locations that have had massive amounts of rain that need help now. Drinking water is likely to be less than ideal as floodwaters fill the wells.

Correct, there's no danger to Bangkok. It'll swamp my place before it hits Bangkok and it's as dry as a bone here.
