Nineteen Chinese tourists were arrested following a raid on two rooms at the CC Condominium in Pattaya just after midnight this morning.

They were running an online gambling operation turning over 2 million Yuan or about 8 million baht a month.

The raid was led by Chonburi provincial police chief Maj-Gen Nanthachart Suphamongkhon in conjunction with tourist and immigration police.

Maj-Gen Nanthachart said that suspicions were aroused after a large number of tourists were spotted going into rooms 421/114 and 421/117.

Armed with a Pattaya court search warrant the authorities found the Chinese and a host of evidence in the form of computer notebooks, mobile phones and electronic accounts.

In one room there were 14 men and 3 women taking bets while there were two people in another room.

Nearly 200 phones were seized.

All those arrested have been booked with working illegally.

They were paid 10,000 Yuan or about 40,000 baht a month, reported Daily News.

They Gamble everywhere, In USA when I went to kung-<deleted> classes in Boston , MA we could look down on apartment across the street and see many peole playing  Mahjong for money. Later when casinos were opened in Conneticut you would see busloads of Chinese arrive and play.

Why don't they do this in Sihanoukville? There they are used to Chinese gambling business. What makes Thailand so attractive for them?

ah, they were until Hun Sen closed them all down.. talk is 80,000 have left (could be a factor of ten out, who knows, but all the flights out are fully booked).. shops empty... it seems a lot and dramatic, but I am only repeating what I have read. Convoy of army/police traveling from PP, no one knows why.. image.png.6c2816f0c49618be9b56eafd8920f7a7.png

I see. Just checked with Google. Online gambling will not be allowed pretty soon anymore in Cambodia. 80,000 - must have been a very big business. At the same time they build new casinos like crazy. Better I don't think now why they don't care about them...

I still dont understand why they choose Pattaya/Chonburi to run their operation ?  They must have been misinformed ,so many Chinese gangs busted here the last 2 years.

I guess the employees are easily replaceable and finding somebody willing to work in Pattaya is easier than in nakhon nowhere.
