webfact Posted September 5, 2019 Share Posted September 5, 2019 Hero delivery guy tells what happened when frantic mum asked for help The Grab Food delivery guy who helped take a mother and her sick son to hospital in dense Bangkok traffic has spoken to the media. The good news story called him a hero but there was also some slapstick humor amid the highway drama. A mother opened her car door and implored "Pop" Watchara Kasian to help take her to hospital on his motorcycle as her son "Nong Pla Wan" was having a seizure. Pop said that he was delivering a pizza to an address in Watcharaphon. At first he didn't know what the woman was going on about as he couldn't see a child and there was dark film on the windows. It soon became apparent and he didn't hesitate seeing the child aged about three. He explained that he has a son of about the same age. Seeing the frantic face of the mother and the obvious distress of the son he sprung into action. He used all his knowledge of the route and riding ability to get to the hospital as quickly as possible. As he neared the hospital he realized that to deliver mother and son to the ER door he would need to make a time consuming U-turn. So he stopped and asked a motorcycle taxi driver to take over. This second hero cradled Pla Wan and raced over a footbridge to the ER. The child is now on medication but expected to recover fully from the ordeal in time. Pop explained that when the mother leaped on his bike she mistakenly sat on the pizza he was delivering. The customer was none too happy with the pizza but when Pop explained what had happened it was accepted and everything was sorted out amicably. Pop thanked everyone for the good wishes to him and said if he ever has to do such a thing in the future he will be ready, willing and able.
