Viagra to blame?

A good friend (60s) recently had a heart attack and died. No apparent heart health issues. His best friend thinks it might have to do with taking viagra to keep up with younger women in the US.

Since I don't know much about his health, I just was wondering if people have noticed a correlation between viagra and such and heart attacks. Just asking for anecdotal information not deep science.

In the US?  Was not aware many even looked at older men for such reasons. ????  A heart attack would be a health issue - expect most of us at 60 may not be aware of our internal conditions if no obvious health issues presenting symptoms.

There are documented cases of Viagra being involved in cardiac episodes, in fact the contraindication for use is any cardiac or  blood pressure issues.

The matter is further complicated if using other stimulants or amyl type products

Very much true. My best friend is a cardiologist and has told me as much. If you have underlying circulatory issues and heart problems, Viagra can make things much worse. There is a heart drug that is also contraindicated for use with Viagra. I believe that cardiologists are the second most prescribers of Viagra, after urologists. When he was in private practice he had boxes and boxes of samples in the office.

What an odd post/topic.

Younger women in the US and he died?

Noticed a correlation?  I guess you think some on TV have done research on this?

OK, whatever.

You are asking a very serious medical issue if you are so concerned I suggest you consult a good Doctor and ask your questions.

As above.

That he did not know he had heart problem doesn't mean that he didn't have underlying coronary artery disease tat he was unaware of.

There is a good reason why this is prescription only.

Very interesting! Why are cardiologists prescribing it? Especially if it causes heart issues.

Why are urologists prescribing it?

Thanks for your enlightening me.

Cardiologists are consulted because the drug has implications for cardiovascular patients. In other words, if I believe I may have a cardiovascular condition that would make taking Viagara dangerous, I am certainly going to consult with a Cardiologist before an eye doctor. Hence, he/she would be the doctor indicating it was okay to use Viagara, and thus the doctor likely to prescribe it. Likewise, urologists are frequently consulted for issues with "the tool".

So viagra solves problems? I have a friend who takes Flomax and 5mg of Cialis for frequent urination.

What things are you aware of?

Thanks

I hope to see a cardiologist if I can get a referral from my doc.
