"Many reasons to refuse"

Give me a few serious reasons to refuse the body scanning at Suvarnabhumi that security will accept. Check this out:

https://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/airport-scanners-and-12-must-know-radiation-risks/

You got one and the only one: "Perhaps I don't want to be radiated except when I go to the doctor for something medical."

Full Stop.

You must have been in great haste to provide a snarky response, as you apparently missed it.

CBS quoted an expert, and you can read a dozen reports online written about full body scans and the "risks". You are just paranoid, listens to wrong people or reading inaccurate articles online. There might even be a few conspiracy theories that might be of interest.

About 10 yrs ago visited UK and on leaving Heathrow had a random wand check, which displayed explosive residue on my person or on my carry on.. This was when London was a light with arson fires.. I was surrounded by 3 officers.

I was told to go through the body scanner, which I initially objected to, and was told if I don't, I won't be leaving today.. At that time there was a lot of controversy about emitted radiation.. I went through, and got the all clear..

Last year my stuff was tested and some tins of corned beef showed up as being explosive. No drama, they just got a fresh wipy thing and all was ok.

I really doubt that you have a choice anywhere in the world, unless you sit in a wheelchair.

What would be the reason to refuse?

Did you not see my posts about the security at Amsterdam airport?

Yes,I did. In my opinion the security at Frankfurt airport is also quite tough.

You always have a choice.  Many reasons to refuse.  Maybe I don't want them to see how well-endowed I am.  Perhaps I don't want to be radiated except when I go to the doctor for something medical.

If you've got it flaunt it.

What's the point of having them ....if one is allowed to "opt out" ?

What is the point of going through one if you get patted down when you come out .    If the machine is so good there should be no need of a physical search after you go through it .

I went through the full body scanner in the Priority Lane and I wasn't patted down when I came out.

Never been patted down after going through body scan, after going through a detector alarm yes,  body scanner never, questioned about surgical mesh which showed up though

You are only patted down if the machine identifies an area for inspection (by way of a box placed on a generic 2D outline of a human on a screen).  Otherwise you are in and out and off you go.
