Thanks for that correction, I also thought that there was a distinction between SIMs registered before 1 Feb 2019 and after.

However, using the myAIS app on my phone I can see I have a monthly limit of 7.5 Gb before reduced speed service kicks in. I can also see from the app that I have been using this number for 11 years and 1 month, so my registration certainly pre-dates the 1 Feb 2019 date. I wondered if it might be a function of using the app (i.e. it defaults to the new limits) so I also logged into my account on my PC and both the 11+ years of service and 7.5 Gb limit are there.

I have no idea why. If you have any insight I would be please to know.

You are using the wrong code. You are using the code for limited data at a different price.

With your SIM you have the option of unlimited data at 1 Mbps;

90 days 800 baht *777*7379#

6 months 1200 baht *777*7328#

12 month 1800 baht *777*7329#

Unlimited 4 Mbps

90 days 1284 baht *777*7398#

Unlimited 10 Mbps

90 days 1926 baht *777*7399#

Thanks Jam Jar.....I have had the same sim for 13 yrs and do not want to change my number. I went to AIS last night and got their brochure on internet rates (in Thai) and just do not see anything close to these deals for older sims.

To anyone.....I need maybe 2 to 4 GB/month.....any speed, 1 Mbps and above....what's the best deal out there for my AIS old SIM, please and thanks.

1mbps is comparable to data speeds in Kazakhstan 16 years ago. It is shamefully slow. AIS is famous for it's throttling of speeds. I find True to be far better. Much faster and less limitations. Of course, if you are seeking out the lowest cost plan possible, AIS might be the answer.

You haven't written about the time period involved.

If you want unlimited data for the longer term, see my reply to boriga, post #34

If you are referring to cheaper long term packages; you can utilise the the data limited, capped speed SIM Marathon packs, since you require such a small amount of data anyway; https://m.ais.co.th/ontop-package-myais

Once you use one of these codes to get your first month of data will the next month automatically reoccur? (Assuming you have funded the card for it)... Or do you need to put the same code in monthly?... Also what happen after 12 months of use? does the promotion end?

For once Jam Jar ,I Have the same info that you have ie/ short term top-up packages. I have the OnTopPackage app on my phone. I get confused when I see

all these deals on Thai Visa that seem so much better than the OnTopPackage and

I actually go on AIS site looking for them so I don't have to keep coming to all these

rate threads and asking questions all the time.

I am looking for more than 30days...so post 34 is my answer....thank-you. Can I ask

where you find all these rates (link) because I'm sure there always changing.

Any reason why we don't have a sticky with the rates?

Cheers

AIS & Truemove H will renew as long as you have credit.

DTAC, I have explained earlier.

I cannot tell you what happens after twelve months. What are you thinking? ???? The networks probably don't know either.

You should speak to Admin. That's part of the problem. I post the same thing so many times, which is annoying for me when people ask exactly the same question I just answered on another thread.

Then we have people who cross post on threads and then forget they posted and I already answered. Then they complain that I didn't tell them...

If you don't want to keep coming to these threads, you'll have to research the information for yourself.

Anyone....

I don't really understand speeds, in my apartment when I download stuff, the top speed is 799kb/sec.......what does that work out to in Mbps. (I don't pay for the internet so have no idea what the package is)

One does not normally see download speeds expressed in kb/s(or even Kb/s), but KB/s.

799 Kbps equates to 99.9 KB/s

For the benefit of a comparison; 1 Mbps equates to 125 KB/s

It seems more likely that your download speed is at least 799 KB/s. Which equates to 6.39 Mbps.

Rest a test and let us know the result; https://testmy.net

I have the AIS 12 months unlimited 1mbps 1800 baht plan. I use about 30gb a month. It's fine for internet searching, downloading, youtube, porn. It's not as good as my previous 4mbps but only a marginal difference.

Thai girls are on facebook all day, i get them on this plan and they are happy with it

You have missed the point on this one.

We are discussing capped speed, unlimited 'no slow low down' data packages.

They are available in 1 Mbps, 2 Mbps, 4 Mbps and 10 Mbps flavours.

So a 1 Mbps package will be much the same with all of the networks. People choose 1 Mbps because they can purchase a 12 month package for 1800 baht with AIS. In fact the same package costs 1926 baht with DTAC and Truemove H.

AIS carries 1 Mbps 90/180/365 days, 4 Mbps 90 days and 10 Mbps 90 days

DTAC: 1 Mbps 90 days, 4 Mbps 90 days and 10 Mbps 90 days

Truemove H: 1 Mbps 90/180/365 days, 2 Mbps 90/180/365 days days and 4 Mbps 90/180/365 days

So, as you will note, Truemove H is not faster in this respect. In fact it's the slowest of all, since it doesn't offer a non stop 10 Mbps pack at all.

These packages are only available to DTAC SIMs activated before the 1st of March or AIS/Truemove H SIMs activated before the 1st of Feb.

Whilst you have a SIM eligible for capped speed non stop, unlimited data packages, if you choose the option for a capped speed, limited data package, then that it what you will get.

I show that link only for long term capped speed, limited data packages.

Question, what exactly means "activated before"?

When I go to the shop?

What happens then with the unlimited packages sold in lazada? Because I also have to go to a shop and "activate" those SIMs

You go to the shop to 'Register' the SIM with your passport info etc. Activation takes place when you put in your phone and get a signal.
