Thai police are investigating the mysterious disappearance of a soon to be married woman from Udon Thani.

Before she lost contact with her mother she said that a tour bus driver had taken her down a secluded lane into a forest.

Parents Ubon and Pramuan went with Santi, 32, the fiance, to Udon Police after Waewta, 30, went missing.

Her mother said that on Saturday she had taken her daughter who was sick to see the doctor. Next day she announced that she was going to Kalasin to see her fiance.

She took her to get on the bus to the Udon 1 bus station where she alighted and got on a tour bus. A series of mysterious phone calls followed in which she said she had been driven down a secluded lane.
An old woman on the bus had asked the driver why they had stopped there and had been told to shut up and mind her own business.

The mother urged her daughter to ask the driver about it herself and she heard the driver comment: "Are you scared? Scared at not reaching your destination? You'll all get to where you want to, relax".

Then her daughter said that 4 or 5 men had surrounded the tour bus.

After that all contact with her daughter ceased.

Udon police have checked CCTV at the bus station that showed Waewta get off the local bus at 8.38 on Sunday morning. She then went to the other side of the bus station where there was no CCTV so it could not be determined what service she then got on.

But it is believed to be a charter service.

The fiance says they have only recently got engaged and he fears greatly for her safety.

UPDATE

Missing bride-to-be update: She's lied to her family and fiance

CCTV has caught a bride-to be, supposedly missing after taking a bus from Udon Thani to Kalasin, in a big lie.

Footage from tour company Charn Tour at Udon Thani bus station clearly showed Waewta Namwichai, 30, buying a ticket to Bangkok not Kalasin.

She had told her mother over the phone that the driver of the Kalasin bus she supposedly boarded drove her down a secluded lane then four or five men surrounded the bus. Then the phone went dead.

The parents and the fiance went to the Udon police amid fears for her safety.

Thai Channel 7 TV said the case had now been turned on its head. Both the driver of the service and Waewta's fiance were due to give extra evidence today.

Waewta was due to marry Santi, 32, at the start of next year.

Now everyone wants to know where she got off the bus, who she might have been meeting and why she has apparently lied to her family and fiance.

The case is being called "The Bride-to-be" in the Thai media with the public hanging on every development.

UPDATE

Missing bride-to-be update: Media reports she is alive and well

Siam Rath reported that the missing bride-to-be, who got on a tour bus in Udon after telling her family and fiance she was bound for Kalasin, has contacted her mother.

She was later found to have boarded a bus to Bangkok apparently lying to her fiance and parents. She was caught on CCTV at Udon bus station as the mystery deepened.

The family were originally frantic after contact with the lady indicated that the driver had gone down a secluded lane and four or five men had surrounded the vehicle.

Charn Tour reported that women alone got off the bus at both Wang Noi and Rangsit on the outskirts of Bangkok. They were trying to determine with police and the driver where Waewta, 30, might have alighted.

The media said that her mother had been contacted by Waewta and she was happy that she was alright.

Meanwhile her fiance Santi, 32, said that he still hopes that the marriage will go ahead - he intends to buy her a car.

Really.... I'd tell her to stay wherever she is with whoever she is with & don't knock on my door when you come back...

Poor lady apparently she could not turn down the wedding when she changed her mind about marrying..

So she did the disappearing act. It is not uncommon for people to just disappear in thin air and never seen again in Thailand or in many other countries for that matter. In Thailand may be it is easy to get a plastic surgery to change the shape of your nose or your eyes. Steal someone's identity and live happily thereafter.

My sympathy for her.
