Transmission Oil + belt change for Ford Ranger

Recommended Posts

I have to change the transmission oil and the belt on my 2013 Ford Ranger. Got an offer from Ford garage for about 12,000 THB which I think is outrageous, and that's besides the point I really don't like this garage as their service s**ks...

Any recommendations for a good and reliable place to get it done in Chiang Mai?

Thanks

If you are talking about your timing belt , then they will also change your water pump and pulley wheels .

This is the procedure done by many major car names now.

The oil change I would suggest , includes filters ( fuel , oil and air ) labour charges etc. and all fluids .

That figure of 12,000 sounds about right .

I think he needs to emphasize to Ford what he wants doing.

I remember taking mine in for a service , and they bought a receipt out asking my Mrs. to sign it.

It had 10,000 baht at the bottom.

When we asked what that was for , they said it was in case we find any belt or hose problems we can change them and do any other work to the value of 10,000 baht.

So we had to explain in detail what we wanted them to do and no more.

Sounds a bit over the top to me. Toyota charge around 3.5th to change the belt, and between 800bht and 1.3th for transmission fluid change depends if it's a 4x4 or two wheel drive. Whatever 5th should cover it. Price quoted was for 4x4 rear/front axle and splitter box. As well as gear box.

It's Ford Ranger 3.2l 4x4. The quotation is:

Gear oil - 1640

Gasket -  1465

Oil filter - 1500

Gray glue (whatever that is...) - 180

Belt - 470

Ball levers - 2900

secondary Ball levers - 350

Service - 3000

+ 7% on top of that

The first 3 seem way over the top...

The only relevant items on your list are the Belt Tensioners 3,370 baht + The Belt 480 baht which comes to about the same amount I was quoted. Did you get it done at Ford?

Yes I did.

You said you were quoted 1,500 for an Oil Filter , which is 245 baht.

You mentioned a Gasket for 1,465. I think they are 400 or 500 baht .
