webfact Posted September 16, 2019 Share Posted September 16, 2019 Three killed, nine injured in Saraburi crash By The Nation Three people were killed and nine others injured when a van carrying a Chinese opera troupe overturned in Saraburi’s Chalerm Phrakiart district early Monday. The Chalerm Phrakiart police station was alerted at 4.10am of the accident on the Bangkok-bound Phaholyothin road in Moo 9 village of Tambon Huay Bong. Police said the driver along with eight other passengers were injured and rushed to Saraburi Hospital. An unidentified passenger was hurled out of the van by the impact and killed instantly. Two passengers died inside the van and were identified as Jariya Sae-heng, 61, and Porsianghai Sae-ugng, 65. Police quoted the survivors as saying that the van was transporting a Chinese Opera troupe back from their show in Phetchabun’s Lomsak district back to Bangkok when the accident occurred. Highly unlikely that they were Chinese nationals. Long history of performance by Sino-Thais, for Sino-Thais, within the overall framework of Siamese/Thai culture: Chinese Opera in Thailand: Protecting the Heritage and ...
