Phuket Immigration clarifies TM28, 24-hour reporting ‘exceptions’

Hi, i posted Number 94. I asked this question as every time I go to Jomtien for an extension on my tourist Visa ( SETV) I am asked for my TM28 slip of paper ! My condo reports me online, and I go myself personally within the 24 hours of arrival as I know in advance I need  this to get my extension ! So, who is right ? I was told to do this by Jomtien IO . NO TM28 Notification of address , No   extension  on my tourist visa.

I just renewed my investment visa yesterday and I was surprised it only took 40 mins to complete. It was an all day event the last 15 years previously.

It seems the computer system is upgraded nationwide.

Longest part of the process was them stamping the passport.

They are doing something right in speeding up the process.

Then I asked about the TM30 etc and I can travel anywhere without doing address registration.

She it's all on my computer file and other officers will see that visa when someone registers me as staying at their premises and won't change the details.

Immigration is doing their best to streamline things. I have no complaints.

Normally it takes years for change but this time they are listening.

But I suspect it's the Thai landlords they are listening to. They are doing more complaining about this than the expats.

Seeing as you dont understand the concept of a phuket forum, you may want to use a visa agent.

To make sure I get this right.???? Soon going three weeks to another province, staying in my friends condo. (I'm not moving) In Phuket I been at same address for 20 + years and are returning to that address. Retired, no business or work permit. Is it only the Tm.28 which is actual in the province I will be staying for three weeks or also Tm.30. When returning to Phuket which is it then or is it both? ????

Thanks

TM28 = You, the alien, only if you are in the "O", that is "Other", category, ie. retiree or married. Both BKK and Phuket. Most can't be arsed and it doesn't seem to be enforced at the moment. You should do it at the police station (immigration is also police). Immigration act 37 (3) and (4).

TM30 = The person who's providing your lodging, that'd be your friend or his landlord in BKK and you or your landlord in Phuket. Have to do both in BKK and Phuket. Immigration act 38.

Fun innit. I guess most won't bother with any of it, but just leave the TM30 entry in Phuket while they travel. Trouble comes when somebody, like a hotel, does do the TM30 for you and it's not done again when you return to your usual residence, then your "last known address" is marked in immigration as the last submitted TM30 address. You might get fined when trying to extend or otherwise deal with immigration when they find out there's a missing TM30 entry.

This thread is about the TM28, that you're supposed to do yourself if you are in the "O" category.

Thanks, will try navigate trough this and it seems best to also do the Tm.30 when return to Phuket because I have planned a hotel night or two on the trip.

No they aren't skilled craftsman. There is a low amount of skilled craftsman here, see below
