Climate change in the Isaan?

Recommended Posts

Amazing the differences in what can be of interests to some...and maybe not to others.

and those in power who deny this is real, and say it is perfectly 'natural' should het their f'in heads out of the sand, like now , and come up with solutions.

FWIW carbon capture won't work all the time we're digging the pure stuff up from the ground and burning it. easier just to leave it there and get solutions for overall energy demand NOW.

ps population trend doesn't help.

I have thoughts, but no post able answers......

The title of your thread asks about climate change. Then the body of your post asks about weather changes.

Please decide which one you wish answers for. Climate and weather are not the same thing.

But just to let you know....they’ve both been changing ever since the planet got water and an atmosphere.

Longer term the "climate-change" will affect "your weather" in your small corner of the world as well.

After only 14 years in Isaan I can say yes it is changing, we used to know the exact date to plant rice now it is a lottery.

Scary!

If planting and harvesting become a lottery, agriculture (as we know it), depending on certain patterns of seasonality, will eventually collapse.

Well since all the prognostication on climate change is based on the Mann Hockey Stick Hoax, one has to wonder.

Udon Thani flooded in the years 2000 and 2001, both times in July. The city was crippled for nearly a week each year. Taksin sent military troops to help people and distrbute food in 2001.

My wife's parents were unable to produce a rice crop in Maha Sarakham Province last year.(First time in their 67 years they remember that happening. In July 2017 1 of these storms coming off of the South China Sea dropped huge flooding rains on Issan(The most rain recorded in the last 40 years, and then just 2 weeks ago a similar storm brought Similar rain totals as that of the July 2017 event. No doubt there is climate change happening and the effects are being felt in Issan.
