webfact
Prachin Buri hospital hosts cannabis growing class for the public By The Nation Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital on Tuesday (September 17) organised a training course, “Medical Cannabis Organic Farming for Agriculturists and General Public”, at its Prachin Buri campus in Bang Decha sub-district. The training course was led by hospital director Dr Namphol Danpipat, who noted that growing cannabis for medical purposes in Thailand is relatively new. The hospital has been working with medical cannabis for several years and is ready to share its know-how with the general public. “This training course consists of both classroom lectures and practical sessions in closed farming plots,” Namphol said. “We aim to provide students with optimal growing techniques that will yield best quality cannabis for medical purposes. “Most importantly, all cannabis growing and processing methods demonstrated in this course are in full compliance with the law,” he added. In addition to sharing growing techniques, Chaophraya Abhaibhubejhr Hospital provided information on topics that included cannabis usage for medical purposes, dealing with plant diseases and pests, and the regulations that must be followed by those applying to grow medical cannabis with approval of related government agencies. DaRoadrunner
Typical Thailand. We were recently told each person is only allowed to have six plants. Now they go the other extreme and open a school teaching us how to grow the stuff. I am tempted to turn up with Lady Roadrunner's extended tribe..... at six plants each that will amount to enough to start a farm! (Thinks... maybe if I get the entire tribe stoned they'll quit bothering the Farang)

Alsyapal
A serious question requesting a serious answer please. Is it now legal to cultivate medical standard cannabis on our small Thai owned farm? I remember once seeing a request on this forum for farmers interested in this but cannot now find it. No, that is not legal yet. A draft bill was recently forwarded in parliament to allow 6 plants per household for personal medical use, but it has not yet passed or even been debated. For now, grow licenses are very difficult to get - only a handful of universities, two hospitals and the GPO are licensed. It's expected that eventually farms will receive licenses to grow commercially, but their cannabis will have to be sold directly to a government agency (most likely the Tobacco Monopoly), and the product will have to meet their standards. In short, 6 plants per household *might* be allowed by middle of next year, but restrictions on commercial grow licensing is unlikely to change for a few more years (a potentially crucial review is planned for 2024).
