passport is property of home country. if missing pages dont concern thailand at arrival all they are clear to do is reject entry.

Damaged or altered( as this one was) can be deemed an invalid document, therefore you are unable to travel it.

A small tear, or mark can be considered damage, and therefore not a legal  travel document

yes, but they cannot detain you. its just a rejection at the border. your free to fly elsewhere.

If they have reason to believe you are trying to enter the country illegally the can absolutely detain you.

i guess thats true as she was already on foreign soil via airport. i was thinking more a land crossing where one was not in country yet and there was a buffer zone.

on that point;  what if The Depertures IO has hamfistedly torn a slit into the page, where the TM6 and it's staple had been removed from in his haste?

damaged travel document needs replacement.

can be deemed at next port as invalid

this was not the case here though, the woman made an "adjustment/amendment" to it

They detain until flight, then escort you to the gate

I you were planning on staying in Thailand, why would you have a continuing flight?

Unless you are talking about the return, in which case they would have to detain you for however long you were planning on staying in Thailand, yes?

Your talking letter of the law rather than spirit of the law. One could argue a drop of coffee would render the passport invalid.

The law is (apparently) worded such that the immigration officer is able to make a judgement call on what is acceptable. If the law stated staple holes were acceptable, someone could completely obliterate an entry with staple holes and the officer would be powerless to detain them.

We still do not know what UK Immigration has done with her passport since her return.

Perhaps the Influencer model has connections or is awaiting trial for deliberately  "amending" her passport.

Once she passes the breathalyzer 3-5 more time all will be fine...
