Naew Na reported that the immigration police along with the Saraburi constabulary and Department of Employment officials inspected foreigners on the road next to the stadium in the central Thai city.

They arrested a 45 year old man who had overstayed his visa by 699 days and charged him under Article 81 of a 1979 law.

The man's nationality was not mentioned though he had a name that means moon in Sanskrit and Hindi, notes Thaivisa.

Thai Immigration authorities have a huge red tape apparatus in place to keep under control foreigners' movements in the country; but when they catch some long overstayer like this one, it's always by other ways: road checks, tip-offs, etc. So what is all of that red tape good for?

Paul-Michel Foucault, generally known as Michel Foucault, was a French philosopher, historian of ideas, social theorist, and literary critic. Foucault's theories primarily address the relationship between power and knowledge, and how they are used as a form of social control through societal institutions.

its referred to as the Foucault affect....a form of controlling society.

All you doubters about Tm30 etc etc, this person  would have been spotted when he did his first online report after his visa expired, 'l/?(.>•^| 555

Yeah, right. If he couldn't be bothered to sort his visa the chances of him doing a TM30 are pretty small.

Yes he was stupid enough to walk in and report himself ? TM 30 and 90 day reports dont catch the overstayers, they dont report themselves do they.

Interesting, thanks. But I reckon this has Foucault to do with the subject matter.

It distracts from what home grown crimes are up to and the law is applied in one area forcefully  ????

Yeah weird stuff going on I think with having another visit from Tourist police officers escorting Immigration officers from CM head office, around Sukhothai checking up on me, it has become a regular visit for these last 3 years.

When I asked what's going they just said thankyou for your cooperation and left.
