Cat Telecom own modem

Recommended Posts

I have a fiber optic connection from CAT Telecom. Does anybody know if you can use your own modem/router?

Yes, you can.  I have a friend who is doing just that.  However, I myself have CAT fiber and I'm very happy with the free TP-Link modem they provided.

I had the service installed three years ago.  When I thought the original modem/router was getting a little dated, I called and asked if they could provide a new one.  They did!  The day I called!  For free!

Thank you richsilver for your kind answer.

I am currently not in my Thai home, so I don't know which modem I have, but the settings, for instance, don't let me fix an IP address to a specific client, nor can I do port forwarding. So when I arrive there beginning of November I shall go to CAT office and ask. Just wondered if I shall buy a sophisticated fiber modem/router here in Europe.
