Pravda
My Canadian passport just went through a washing machine. All pages are there but everything is pretty washed up. I am on a marriage non-o multiple entry visa. Do I need to reapply for a visa or it can be "transferred"? I will go tomorrow to Canadian embassy and reapply for a new passport. The problem is I need to leave the country before October 11th. I am screwed. Any advice? 1
Crossy
Do you have a visa or an extension of stay? A visa is toast, although the consulate that issued it may be able to do a replacement (at a cost near that of a new visa). An extension should be recoverable by the immigration office that issued it.
Pravda
I got visa, not extension of stay. I got a visa at Savannakhet. The other problem is I am not married anymore. Will they replace a visa? Edited September 22, 2019 by Pravda
ubonjoe
You might still be able to use the visa if it is somewhat legible. Not sure a the consulate in Savannakhet would replace it.
Tanoshi
You can leave, but you may not be allowed to return. Can you obtain a new Passport by 11th October? Where's your out of Country trip to. Would you be able to get a new Non Imm O ME (assuming you get a new Passport) from a Thai Embassy/Consulate in that Country. Alternatively you may have to cancel/re-arrange your trip. Very unfortunate timing to wash a Passport.

Popular Post kwonitoy
I'm Canadian and have done the same thing. I got a temp white passport at the embassy, you need a police report It took me a day at Chang Watana to transfer my entry stamp to my white passport (I don't recommend this place but you have to do it) Applied for new passport at embassy, had to go to work offshore Temp passport got me to work and back, visa on entry, by then my new passport was at the embassy The embassy will keep your damaged passport, you CANNOT keep it. you will only get a 5 year passport, punishment for being stupid I guess, if you damage this passport you will only get a 2 year passport. Start over on long term visa's It sucks, but has to be done 2

kwonitoy
I tried scanning my washed passport at the airport on the way to the embassy, mine didn't look too bad but wouldn't scan. If it won't scan your visa is toast
Popular Post Pilotman
I'm sorry to ask, but how careless do you have to be to wash a passport? Mine is in the house safe and stays there until extension time, or travel time. I suggest that a bit more care if required for this vital document. 3 3 1

Popular Post kingofthemountain
Just asking, in this case it should help in any way if you have a color copy of your passport somewhere (On paper print or in your phone) ? And it isn't better in this case to just declare the lost of the passeport? (Then at least you not seems to be totaly stupid or careless in the eyes of the officials)

Not a good suggestion. That would be making a false statement to the police when you do a report of its loss and about the same at your embassy. Also some countries will make a problem it you actually do lose a passport in short period of time.

Caldera
I think down the line the biggest issue is that the OP is no longer married. I don't believe for one second that Savannakhet will just reissue the damaged visa in a new passport; they will want a new application with all requisite documents. Time to think about an alternative solution if the OP wants to keep staying in Thailand.

Mitkof Island
My advice is always have your passport in your money belt in a safe place. Not sure how you managed to have it with your clothes.

You beat many in speed as me and supposing have the same question ….. washing your passport (involuntarily …?) as said your most important document so far miles / km's from home country …. I never carry mine except for visit I.O or bank or other important visit , my passport stay safe place home and I carry a FULL copied pages on me …., even it is not in my safe as I could be in a circumstance to send some person to my home with keys to bring it to a police station if I would have meet a incident or a difficult police man.... so I don't have to give my safe code out (bigger disaster …!!!) kwonitoy
The embassy is good about gettin you a temp white passport, I think I had mine in 2 days. It's meant to get you back to Canada, not really applicable to residents or long term visa holders. Visa replacement is up to you.

No link, just personal experience At the embassy when I went to pick up my new one I asked for the damaged one as proof for some other country's visa's Not possible they said. You cannot have 2 Canadian passports and they couldn't stamp through the old passport to invalidate it so they kept it

On the application form it has a tick box to have your passport sent back to you.

Yes, and I've used that little tick box every time I renew my passport Not if it's damaged I'm afraid, not hearsay, personal experience
