I didn't see any mention of this in the report.  Do you have some insight as to how they randomly found this guy and decided to scan his fingerprints?

"Thai immigration police working with the department of Homeland Security Investigations of the USA "

Most countries have police responsible for tracking citizens trying to hide. Probably he wasn't careful and used his home WIFI to send an email to one of his family members. That mailbox was monitored by US police so they found his IP and used that to determine his exact location. Or maybe after 4,5 years on the run he wasn't careful anymore and posted something on Facebook or another social media platform. That platform gave the IP he used to post to the police in the US. Or maybe that platform even had his exact location because his phone (GPS) reported the exact location.  If you want to hide it is best not to use internet or contact old friends/relatives. Even using fake names on social media will not help if you become friends with relatives and friends from the past.

Probably Thai police didn't do anything. They just went to the address the "department of Homeland Security Investigations of the USA" gave them.

Of course biometrics played a part. Which part?

And when will there be so much "succes" in finding Thai on the run from the police?

There seem to be quite a few.

It all boils down to the vilification of farang, same seems to be going on in China.

Exactly. New toy only 3 months old cant catch people who have been here since 2014 <deleted>. Just more lies to cover the cost of this waste of money.

7-elevens are using facial recognition and AI. Maybe they share their database with Thai law enforcement and Homeland Security shares their data for wanted suspects believed to be in Thailand. Not too much of a stretch. If it isn't happening yet it will be in the future.

Now that's a poignant question!

It's a joke.  They scanned his fingerprints, then scanned them again and the first scan matched the second scan.  Do keep up!

why do they have to make up all these huge, elaborate boards everytime they arrest someone.

It may not be that they're doing a lot of work. It may be that they want to give the appearance that they're doing a lot of work.

They need this propaganda to show on the news when they actually arrest criminals without accepting any bribes.

But did he file his TM30?  That would surely have lead the cops straight to him!

Maybe if the US (and other western countries') authorities had some way to track where "fugitives" are staying in those countries, Thai police wouldn't have to find and arrest them.
