Socialism and communism are two different words in the English language. This is due to their having two different meanings. Had you called Bernie a socialist, I could not have disagreed. I too could be called a democratic socialist as I believe in a balance in society for the benefit of all citizens of a given country. You could thus expect me to resist attacks on my Social Security/Medicare, public education, etc. The question is where the citizens decide to draw the balance.

We can agree to disagree, Its really not that complicated, there are as you say "social programs" like Medicare or here the NHS, even Rome had its social programs, they also had more than a few dictators too, approved by the senate by democratic means in the name of the people usually in tough times In order to continue expensive social/socialist programs in the capital city and empire, Rome would enable massive taxation to it's municipalities and territories. When things got out of hand Rome burned or collapsed for a time and rebooted.  Its not a new concept but a social program isnt the same as political socialism nor intent. Bernies whole shtick was socialism not just medicare he wanted much more than that. Same as Labour over here wants the whole socialist nine yards, take property and redistribute etc blame the business owners ( rich ) redistribute same as the Democrat parties new Socialist loon faces there in the US today.

IMO it leads inevitably to more of the same and eventually communism or fascism, both socialist in ideology only the enforcers uniforms differed. The Nazi Party was called the Nationalist Socialist German Workers Party for a reason too. Lenin was a member of the Russian Social Democratic Party, a Marxist party. Hitler and Stalin were literally two sides of the same Socialist coin arguing about minor details, both as was Mussolini Dictators, Same in Cuba same in China, same in many many other places it got a hold on, you see a pattern here i hope. Since there is no allowed financial public prize, ultimate power takes that place as the goal and absolute power we all know in time, corrupts absolutely. Socialism as an ideology leads to tyranny its really that simple for me.

Probably true, but that makes 3 other frontrunnners way too old as well. Speaking for myself, I will not be voting for any septugenarians. Whether that be Sanders (whom I revere), nor Biden, nor Warren, nor Trump. I will be casting my vote for Yang.

is it because he is Yang?

Well thats silly thing to say given your in Thailand and the whole county is permanently Misogynistic let alone postings on TV, dont whatever you do go to Pattaya or half of bangkok youll never cope with the trauma,  how do you ever get through a day ? it must be absolute hell for you, or maybe you dont understand Thai :whistling:... anyways I hope the outburst of false outrage made you feel better. Hope calling Bernie a communist didnt offend you too :passifier:
You can call him anything you like but actually he is not a communist. He's a democratic socialist.

That said I don't think he would have beaten 45 in 2016 because he would have been viciously red baited. As far as 2020 it was already clear he wasn't going to be nominated anyway even before the heart attack.

I think I'll pass on reading post 32. Conflating Bernie Sanders to Lenin is simply a laugh riot, not to be taken seriously.

It's because I think he can beat Trump and also heal the divide in the nation, which to me is more important than any specific policy, but he has many good policies as well. We'll see how it goes.

If you vote for Yang who literally has no chance you are helping Trump. Of course if you are from a hard leaning blue state or red state it really doesn't matter. Unless you are from one of the rust belt states your vote has already been counted.

It was a tongue in cheek question .

Personally I think anyone with a pulse can beat trump or should. If trump gets re elected after we know what we know, I think trump is the least of our problems.

Many have known for a long time that he's is the least of our problems. That's how we got here to begin with. If you think all the problems start with Trump, you may be suffering from temporal myopia.  Google "congressional approval rating by year".
