List Good Hospitals

Thailands defamation laws forbid naming and shaming hospitals that either overcharged or were guilty of malpractice.

Yet, there is nothing to stop us all creating a list here on Thai Visa of GOOD Hospitals, where we were not overcharged and received good care.

I would like to start the list but cannot think of any hospital I have used here that I would recommend!

Such a list would be most useful to us all.....

I have used Chiang Mai Ram many times and found them to be good. Medicine prices high but doctors prices reasonable and you can generally get into see a specialist fast. Had a couple small ops and the doctor was excellent and prices reasonable.  Unfortunately that doctor has left.

Bangkok Hospital any place in the country I have had excellent service and professional care.

The only issue I see is they are over staffed.

I almost died before surgery in Bangkok Trat. The anesthesist misjudged the amount of whatever it is they give you that stops you breathing so they can intubate and I took 3 long minutes to die, not breathing, before the chattering nurses realized something was wrong and I really, really needed some oxygen. They later apologized, stating " they were not used to operate on 270 pound farang". Then they forgot to give me a shot to beat a possible street infection (I half tore of my foot in the accident), then they supplied me with completely superfluous calcium tablets (at 100 baht a tablet!!) - I'm a cheese-eating, milk drinking Dutchman-. On top op that they gave NO medicine to help me go potty - which 12 days later resulted in me giving birth to a 5 pound Kaka baby that tore up my rectum, bleeding all over  the bathroom while screaming primordeally.

Also the food was inedible, I had to order from outside every day. Yet I was charged for all meals.

My Dutch insurance company blanched at the bill- absolutely much more that the same treatment in a Dutch hospital (which belong to the world top) would have cost.

Yep, excellent service and professional care, the word " hell hole" would describe it nicely in my opinion. The nurses, however, were very, very pretty. Unfortunately my wife was around 24-7, so I never really got to enjoy their company much for the 10 day stay there.

I can confirm that Bangkok Trat Hospital is much more expensive than hospitals in Western Europe, and that the nurses there are very pretty.

Treatment is usually good.  Patients they cannot handle are transferred to Chantaburi or Pattaya.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but the way you described it was bloody funny.....gave birth to a 5 pounder..5555.

Gives you a whole new appreciation what your mum went through doesn't it?

As I have tried to explain there is no such thing. Bad care can be gotten at all hospitals if you chose the wrong doctor. And good care can be gotten in virtually all as well.

If what you are wanting to know is which hospitals don't have dual pricing, almost all do. Exceptions:

Bumrungrad -- but sky high price for everyone so that's small comfort.

Some government hospitals located in areas with few foreigners. Govt hospitals which treat many expats will usually have dual pricing (but still cost less than orivate).

I give you one and I am not kidding now. I used many different hospitals here for outpatient treatment in my more than two decades here. And the best one was the Banglamung Hospital. I went there after I tried other hospitals when I had Dengue. Next on my list would be the Pattaya City Hospital. I went there when I was bitten by a dog.
