Two brothers were killed outright when their car was hit by a train as they drove across an ungated level crossing on Friday in Trang’s Kantang district

Officers from Kantang Police Station rushed to the railway crossing on Patiew-Klongcheelom Rd. in Klongcheelom subdistrict where they found the wreckage of a bronze Toyota Vios sedan, license plate Kor Tor 8747. It had been hit side on by the locomotive of express train no.167 travelling from Bangkok. The driver and passenger were later identified as brothers Thossaporn Sitthipan, 28, and Sorawit, 25, both from Kantang. Sorawit had got married the day before.

Wiwat Amphan, who witnessed the accident, said he saw the car trying to cross the railway but the driver was unable to make it in time and was hit by the oncoming train. “The crash was so devastating that the train dragged the car wreckage along the track for about 800 meters, causing a loud screeching noise,” he said. “This crossing is very dangerous and I hope that State Railway of Thailand will install a proper barrier to prevent future accidents.”

The bodies were taken for autopsy to Kantang hospital.

very sad indeed ….  two young brothers at their nicest age gone in an instant. Why the heck didn't they take one second to look both ways before crossing.

RIP boys …

Sorry but no sympathy for stupidity .

Maybe you have a touch of sympathy for the widow Mrs. Sitthipan, who had been married for about 24 hours.

There's the lottery number for the 16th Oct!

I'd suggest 14150 would be more lucky....

The article states ungated crossing but surely there must be warning lights, were these lights operating correctly, assuming they were indeed there.

On some very small country roads there are no lights or barriers there s one about 2 km from my house you just have to look .

These roads maybe take 50 cars a day at most(if that) and now with the new southern dual track are having flyovers built at every crossing

I am between PKK and chumphon this is in Trang So no change there  i would assume

Warning lights?

Stopping to look?

Does anyone actually think they did anything but simply drive out onto the tracks without being conscious of doing so.

Hmm,...The driver made the choice by crossing in front of a oncoming train instead of waiting a bit and enjoy the rest of his life !?!?...Risking his life and the life of his brother, and also impacting the future of his bride,...A choice with the most heavy consequences !!! What makes people take soo great risks to win a couple of seconds ???

Sad more die. Only one winner when train hits car  I dont think i want to say anything anymore The killing will go on and the police will still be sitting in their huts playinngs cards. RIP guys. I am sorry but I only blame one group for the slaughter on the roads and i dont care if they have a thousand meetings on how to stop the killing The only solution is Make the cops do their job? Maybe they could not stopped this one but hundreds more they could of
