THAILAND (NNT) - As the memorial day for His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great on October 13th approaches, Thai people nationwide are joining commemorative activities.

At Khao Phra Thong temple in Cha Aud district of Nakhon Si Thammarat, monks and Buddhists joined a merit-making activity, in tribute to the late King Rama IX, by cleaning up the temple’s premises before the end of Buddhist Lent.

In the capital district of Nong Khai, the people cleaned pedestrian pathways and pruned the tree braches along Mittraphap road from the Office of the 21st Matthayom Sueksa Education Area to Global House’s Nong Khai branch.

In Phetchabun province, the provincial governor led people in reciting prayers of thanks for the kindnesses of the late King Rama IX. An exhibition and dual-language lecture are being conducted about the late King Rama IX’s Sufficiency Economy, which has been recognized and upheld by the United Nations.

At Chonburi central prison, the merit-making ceremony was conducted in tribute to the late King Rama IX with nine monks receiving alms from inmates.
