BANGKOK (NNT) - To promote tourism and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions, or MICE industry, tourism organizations are set to hold this year’s "PATA Destination Marketing Forum 2019", promoting Pattaya as a tourism development model with the aim of becoming the MICE Metropolis of the eastern region.

The Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) director-general, Thaweepong Wichaidit, says the organization has joined with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and Pattaya City, to hold PATA Destination Marketing Forum 2019, a world-class tourism industry meeting where participants will exchange their opinions and knowledge on marketing, sustainable tourism management and the promotion of new, lesser known tourism destinations.

Prior to the meeting, forum participants will get to experience tourism activities in Pattaya’s model communities, where visitors can learn more about local cultures and the ecology. These model community visits include a route following royal projects, a route following the path of the Takhian Tia people’s coconut harvest, and a route following local customs and cultures in Nong Prue and Nong Pla Lai.

The PATA Destination Marketing Forum 2019 will be taking place from 27 to 29 November this year in Pattaya city.

Pattaya is a strategic location for the MICE industry in the eastern region, serving as the hub for trade, investment and service businesses. The city is home to many hotels and large exhibition centers and is a suitable destination for meetings and international exhibitions. The city welcomes the second highest number of MICE travelers in Thailand, following Phuket.
