The "social media" are at the orders of the current government;( in every countries all over this planete )
if the journalists were really independent and could actually do a real job of investigation, ..
Everyone knows very well that with "if" ...

The "social media" call it "red buffalo" because the junta, which was illegally in power after the last puppet elections, is afraid of him;
he must at all costs make him lose face, belittle him, treat him with buffalo, which is an insult in Thai.

If you walk in the countryside in Issan you will see again many new red shirts that are proudly hanging in front of the farms.

No. They will learn to manipulate people’s thinking better using social media along the lines of Cambridge Analytica. That’s the way things are going globally. If they shut down the net, they just turn everyone against them instantly.

Do not underestimate the possibility of this current regime and its army chief "who must not be named" to really pull this Shut-down of the Network off.... they have that magic pill reset button "C"  available at any time.

What you don't mention is that the parties opposed to the Junta were crippled in various ways and were certainly not permitted to campaign propely. The 250 Senate was completely filled by the Junta's place men and military henchmen.There was also some completely inappropriate interference which is not possible to discuss openly.Internationally the election was seen as fix.

 

So maybe you should be a little reflective before accusing others of "twisting facts".

I just said that the junta had quite some followers, a number equal (higher even) to the PTP voted for them. I don't see that as just a few voters. It is substantial like you said it shows how divided Thailand is. People who make it out like the junta has no support are just not seeing the full picture.

 

I agree about the senate thing, its bad and shows that it was certainly unfair. 

 

This guy is also a danger to the stability, most dangerous guy I have seen so far.

These tyrannical, bordering on maniacal, political outbursts by Apirat are more intended as a show of strength to give people the message that it really he who is the supreme commander rather than Prayut Chan-o-cha. He needs to flex his muscles in front of the people; even if it means saying stupid things.

This political meddling by Apirat must make potential foreign investors think twice about investing in the PM's EEC. This man is a danger to the economy. Prayut needs to shut him up but instead he sits by like a timid mouse.
