The Finance Ministry has now approved a stimulus package for the last three months of the year to boost Thailand’s tourism sector. The aim is achieve a 3% growth rate.

The Thai Tourism and Sports permanent secretary Chote Trachu says the purpose is to increase the total tourist arrivals for the second half of the year to 20 million, with the aim to reach the year-start projections of more than 40 million tourists to Thailand for 2019.

Tourist arrivals for the first eight months of the year totalled 26.5 million, generating 1.3 trillion baht of revenue, according to official figures from the Ministry of Tourism and Sport. For the remaining four months of the year, Mr. Chote said there would likely be another 13 million tourist arrivals, with expected revenue of 750 billion baht.

Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Yutthasak Supasorn says that events have been planned to boost tourism for the final months of 2019 including World Cannabis Festival, Super GT, a Tour de France cycling competition and concerts featuring famous bands such as Tomorrow Land and EDC.

Meanwhile, last Thursday, the World Bank slashed Thailand’s economic growth projection for 2019 to 2.7%, down from an earlier 3.5%, because of the contraction of the country’s exports.

In its latest “East Asia and Pacific Economic Update”, the World Bank said today the 2.7% GDP forecast for Thailand is the lowest among ASEAN’s developing countries. The Washington-based institution also cut Thailand’s GDP growth forecast for 2020 to 2.9% from 3.6%.

The World Bank’s report attributes the lower GDP growth outlook to an export slump in the first half of the year, the global economic slowdown and fallout from the US-China trade tensions. The World Bank also says “the Bank of Thailand has limited scope to tackle the baht’s strength, but the currency’s climb is a sign of investor confidence in the country’s economic fundamentals”.

The real stimulus needs to come from the brains of incompetent and substandard ministers and the PM. Show some creative juice and rid yourself of your fear of the outside world and foreigners. You have no idea how petty and ridiculous you appear to the entire planet.

Unless the Cannabis Festival allows people to light up, it will fail.

Tour de France cycling competition? Not that ish again. Wont' happen.

Tomorrow Land and EDC? Never heard of them, but that could just be me.

Most foreginers have had enough of Thai style aggression, abuse, unfairness, arrogance, brashness, injustice, violence, dangers, politics, pollution, fraud, extortion etc...

Nowhere is perfect and Thailand is far from being either paradise or perfect, as it claimes to be.

The bubble has burst, at last, with people opening there eyes to witness the true Thai style.

There are much better places to visit, live, work and be treated in a human plus polite and civil way as a tourist, a visitor, a guest, a husband, a father, a home owner, a business person, an employee, now that barriers are startimg to come down, unlike Thailand.

For far too long, most Thais have been racist, having it too good by means of extortion and in the process abused those that have helped to fuel the Thai economy.

Do not bite the hand that feeds, which has been happening in Thailand for far too many years.

Just look at the place! Thailand should be at a much higher standard than it is with Thais being better educated than the majority are.

T.I.T where foreginers are not really welcomed, are cheated for their finances and whereby Thai think themselves the superior race....

History separates nations by what was achieved, what has / did Thailand achieve? Being the biggest illigal brothel in the world? Fraud? Extortion? Racism etc..?

Try looking in a mirror first to make a change...

And tourists at last with the rise in the baht are starting to vote with their collective feet.

World Cannabis Festival (which in all the news releases seems to be "Ganja Festival"), seems to be newly invented.  Not sure about Tour de France when France not involved but maybe they will sort it out. Who the heck are Tomorrow Land? But EDC is very appropriate as I believe it is the acronym for a type of credit card charging machine !!

I decided to Google these famous bands. I found nothing. Tomorrow Land is apparently a Bangkok nightclub and EDC has something to do with Thai banks!

Anyway, this must be the umpteenth thread in the past couple of weeks saying practically the same thing. They are pretty obviously in panic mode!

Agree with all your points.

But looking in a mirror to make a change? Not going to happen. Not in a Million years.
