Egat driving project to convert conventional cars to electric ones

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) is studying how to develop a low-cost electric car battery to make it much more affordable for car owners who want to convert their vehicles to electric ones, said assistant governor for Research, Innovation and Business Development Jiraporn Sirikum.

Jet-ski riders warned not to disturb Bryde’s whales

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Warawuth Silpa-archa said on Tuesday that he instructed officials to warn 30 tourists after they were spotted riding jet skis to get a close-up view of Bryde’s whales swimming off Chao Samran beach in Phetchaburi province.

Trash finally cleared at Chalong Pier after direct order by Governor

PHUKET: Chalong Municipal workers moved and cleared mounds of garbage piling up on along Chalong Pier today (Oct 15) after Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana gave a clear order for the trash to be removed from the busy tourism facility immediately.

Government’s stimulus measures boost economic growth by 3%

BANGKOK (NNT) - The government’s Chim Shop Chai (Taste, Shop, Use) campaign has helped boost domestic spending. The Center for Economic and Business Forecasting of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) has forecast that the second phase of this campaign will help the Thai economy expand by 3% this year.

BANGKOK (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Human traffickers in Thailand have ignored court orders to compensate victims in more than 99% of cases in recent years, fuelling fears that many survivors could be re-trafficked, data obtained exclusively by the Thomson Reuters Foundation revealed.

Thailand’s corporate confidence index falls for 7th consecutive month

Thailand’s corporate confidence index has fallen for the seventh month in a row, dipping to 46.2 points in September from August’s 46.5 points due to export contraction, trade tensions between China and the US, protests in Hong Kong, recent flooding in the north-eastern provinces and PM2.5 dust problems in Bangkok and surrounding provinces.

Police make huge drug haul at Nakhon Ratchasima checkpoint

2 extra holidays for Asean Summit, but only in Bangkok, Nonthaburi

The Cabinet has approved November 4 and 5 as official holidays, but only for Bangkok and Nonthaburi areas, to alleviate traffic congestion at the 35th Asean Summit and Related Summits to be held at Impact Muang Thong Thani, deputy government spokeswoman Traisulee Traisoranakul said on Tuesday.

Singha acquires majority stake in Santa Fe restaurant chain
