Thundershowers are likely over the upper part of the country while isolated heavy rains and gusty wind are possible in the Northwest, the lower Central region and the East, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the Thailand Meteorological Department announced on Tuesday (October 15).

The department attributed the weather conditions to moderate a high-pressure system covering the North, the Northeast, the upper Central and the South China Sea. The easterly wind prevailing over Thailand, the Gulf and the Andaman Sea is strengthening.

The department also forecast more rain with isolated heavy downpours for the South. Moderate winds will whip up the waves in the lower Gulf up to 2 meters and above during thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and avoid stormy conditions.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

Northern region: Mostly cloudy with thunderstorms and heavy rain in 30 per cent of the area; temperature lows of 21-25degrees and highs of 32-35 degree Celsius.

Northeastern region: Partly cloudy with thundershowers in 20 per cent of the area, temperatures lows 21-24 degrees and highs of 33-35 degree Celsius.

Central region: Mostly cloudy with thundery showers and heavy rain over 40 per cent of the area; lows 23-25 degrees, highs 32-35 degrees Celsius.

Eastern region: Mostly cloudy with thunder showers and heavy rain over 40 per cent of the area; lows 23-25 degrees, highs 32-35 degree Celsius; wave height 1-2 metre, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

Southern region (east coast): Cloudy with thunder showers and partly heavy rain in 70 per cent of the area; lows of 23-25degrees, high 32-34 degrees Celsius; wave height 1-2 metres, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

Southern region (west coast): Cloudy with thundershowers and heavy rain in 60 per cent of the area; lows 22-24 degrees, highs 32-33 degree Celsius; wave height 1metre, increasing to 2 metres during storms.

Bangkok and surrounding area: Cloudy with thunder showers and heavy rain in 60 per cent of the area, lows 25-26 degrees, highs 33-36 degrees Celsius.

Weather radar says no rain clouds over Thailand. Looking outside, blue sky and lots of sun in CNX. So Fake News.

Well, we've had heavy rain in my part of Kalasin Province this afternoon, so for once I'll go with what the met office said. Got a feeling it might have been the wet season's swansong though.
